Club Championship

Charity Events

The club is one of the oldest Scalextric clubs in the country being formed in 1978 .

After many years of having a portable track the club obtained its own premises in 1987, originally this utilised a six-lane Scalextric track.

The track suffered buckling and warping problems due to expansion which was caused because for most of the time the building was unheated and was subject to extreme temperature differences when the sun shone. The Scalextric track was therefore replaced with a wooden track in 1997 to cure these problems.

The club is best known for its open competitions held during the 1980ís when we played host to members of other clubs from all over the country. These events tended to be unusual events, the first one in 1980 being the Hill Climb, this was complimented the following year with the Rally Cross

The Hill Climb circuit comprised a special track built for the event using Scalextric dragster turns and hill climb turn around (part number PT/73). The first event was held in 1980 at the Molesey scout hut. The next year the event was held at Walchry car showroom in Molesey. In 1982 it was held at Currie motors showroom in Molesey and during the event Capital Radio carried out a broadcast from the meeting.

The rally cross circuit was based upon the existing club circuit (that was at that time portable) which was normally moved to a car showroom for the event and the circuit was extended to include many special sections.

General History -

I am compiling the history of the club and would like to hear from anyone that could help in any way.

If you have any information or photographs relating to the club I would be grateful if you could e-mail me with any details.

Also if you know any of the results from the various open competitions held by the club these would be most welcome.
