Report by John P Walters

The South of England Rally cross Championships were held on 18th October1981 , at Walchry Motors, Walton. This event was unusual, in as much as a few non Scalextric hazards were introduced, to simulate a Forestry stage. The racing itself was very unpredictable, the fastest drivers were not necessarily the highest placed. There was an exciting run off for third place overall, between Jamie Pleasance, Gary Long and Capt. Mark Phillips the victor being Jamie Pleasance. The meeting was very successful, and everyone enjoyed themselves. We would like to record our thanks to Walchry Motors for hosting the event; and also to our Sponsors for their inexorable support, without which, we would not be the Club that we are today. Also, thanks to L Harvey (L HARVEY ENGINEERING), Mr & Mrs. Taylor (HANKARD'S TOYSHOP) for appearing to present their Trophies. Unfortunately R&K Edney (RAE MODELS) and R Prince (THERMODIFFUSION, HEATING ENGINEERS SEVENOAKS), were unable to be present, due to previous engagements.
